And for those of you who want to know...BJ was successful in giving blood for his food allergy test. Or so we thought. I just got off the phone with the Pediatrician and she said that not enough blood was collected to do the test. We have to go back to the lab. It was amazingly difficult in getting BJ's blood to begin with so I am not looking forward to going back. But, you gotta do what you gotta do. I'll leave you with this picture of my little pin-cushion.

BJ's First Basketball Game
BJ went to support Daddy at the last game of the season. We didn't stay long (maybe 10 minutes!) but it was enough! As soon as we got home from the game BJ was the fussiest he has ever been. He just recieved his DTaP, Hib, and Prevnar vaccinations earlier in the day. The doctor warned us that BJ might get fussy but...this was amazingly not BJ. He cried for an hour and a half straight! I mean, he screamed. And nothing would calm him down. By the time Daddy came home from the game BJ had cried himself to sleep. It was a crazy time.

It was so wonderful being pregnant at the same time as my sister! We were able to discuss all the details of pregnancy with each other, knowing the other was going through the same exact thing. And now we're both mommies of 2 month-olds! I love being able to call her up with all of my questions. Thanks Monica for your love and support!!!

Cousins, Cousins, Cousins!!
It's been a big weekend in the Deschaine household. Chuchee Monica and cousin Tommy made the long 3-hour trip from Pennsylvania on Friday. Tommy was born on December 13 - just 9 days before BJ. Since both boys are so young and we live so far apart, Monica and I had not met each other's babies yet. And then on Saturday, Uncle Jason brought cousins Taylor and Jacob to meet BJ for the first time. Pop was here as well. Mommom, cousin Sammy, and Uncle Joe were the only "Rarigs" missing.

8 weeks and BJ's first real outing
BJ is 8 weeks! In celebration (well, really because the opportunity presented itself) we visited Daddy at work. Only the staff had to report to school on Tuesday so that meant there would be no germy kids to get their hands all over BJ. And since school had been closed for over a week, hopefully most of the germs in the classrooms died off. We spent close to 3 hours at the school. BJ was so tired when we got home. He actually fell asleep in the bassinet for the first time ever. And then he was so tuckered out that he went to bed for the night at 9pm. He slept soundly until 1:30am!

And today BJ and mommy had our first outing out alone. First we headed over to the lab to finally get BJ's blood work taken care of. BJ did not like it one bit but he was able to donate the 1cc of blood they needed. After that we went grocery shopping! BJ was sleeping for most of it. He woke up in the checkout lane but fell asleep again by the time I was done checking out. After some lunch at home BJ fell asleep in the bassinet again! (I was experimenting to see if he would - he was SO tired and fighting to stay awake). It's amazing how quickly he's growing. Oh, and he smiles now. I haven't captured it on camera yet but he's a happy baby.

7 Week Photo Shoot
When Brian Jr. was 6 weeks old he had his first professional pictures taken. With BJ we wanted to take pictures around the same time. Well, with the recent snow storms and the fact that BJ is a little cranky (still figuring out when his "happy" times are), we haven't gotten around to getting his picture taken. This morning, as Brian was home for yet another snow day, we took the opportunity to have our own photo shoot. Without further ado...

Let It Snow!
Well, we survived the blizzard of 2010 - and without losing power (which I'm very thankful for). Now we're gearing up for another wallop of snow tonight and tomorrow. It's wonderful to have Daddy home for a whole week :) Hopefully everything will be cleared up by the weekend for Grandma Natalie's visit (and maybe, just maybe, a visit from Chuchee Monica and cousin Tommy).

Six weeks old!
BJ is six weeks old!
BJ was sleeping in his bassinet with the pacifier in his mouth. I heard him sucking on air so I went over to investigate and this is what I found! He pulled out the pacifier all by himself (but not on purpose!). And it kind of looks like he's smiling but I'm still chalking it up to gas. He hasn't smiled at me yet :(

Food Allergies?
So, over the weekend we discovered traces of blood in BJ's stool. My mom and I took him to the pediatrician first thing Monday morning and they ordered a blood test to see if he has food allergies. We took BJ to the walk-in Children's Pediatrics center where we discovered that BJ's veins are, well, uncooperative. The nurses stuck him in his right arm and left foot but were not successful in getting any blood. It was so hard to see my baby in so much pain! The nurse would stick the needle in and then dig around in hopes of striking the vein. BJ was looking up at me, screaming, and squeezing my fingers with both hands! It was if he was saying "Mommy, help me!!" I cried!! The worst part is that they didn't collect any blood so we need to go back tomorrow. This time they will stick his heel and milk the blood out of him. Daddy's going to try to come for support. Thanks for your prayers!
